To unite Asia is/will be much harder than uniting all of Europe or the South American nations, both of which have come to become Unions. However, one thing is certain, the West hitherto has only gained by the divisions in Asia and furthur with the divisions within the nations of Asia. That day (if it ever comes), when Asian nations unite, no alliance of the world will be able to subdue it.
i think we should form a union of countries, lyk the europeans have EU

i think it is almost not possible there will always be some cold war running between each country which may lead to war.. but the idea of uniting asia is excellent...may be some day we can expect

Asia getting united ? You must be joking. Asia is probably the most problematic continent in the world. Pakistan has problems with Kashmir, China has problems with Arunachal Pradesh and China has problems with both Taiwan and Tibet. How can Asia get united? Yes, if it does get United by any chance, then Asia will become more than double the super power of America.

It's not impossible to unite the whole Asia. But I don't see that happening soon. Like bowman said there are a lot of problems between the countries. Our leaders show no interest to make such union.

I for one do not care for the idea that Asians in the very near future will be caught in the middle between the EU and the Americans in some economic or trade struggle so the idea of a united Asia is most agreeable & has been foremost in my mind ever since reading book on what the Europeans had accomplished. One Asian nation can't but a united Asia just might hold on its own. But Bowman is right: there is too much disparity and essential differences among Asian nations politically and economically; always has been. But that does not mean that a much closer integration beyond ASEAN+3 is not possible. And it need not be structured along the lines of the EU. Turn to the EU for inspiration, if need be, but let's do it our own way in our own pace but we need to start now. If there will be a union - I call it an Oriental Hegemony - then it follows that the solutions to whatever barriers this dream faces will have to be uniquely Asian because the problems referred to by both Bowman and Liquid are uniquely Asian.
