Some countries ban certain titles for being too violent etc. A recent well known example was Manhunt 2, there was a lot of hype about that issue a while back.

I think it's ridiculous to do such a thing, I mean there are much worse things out there. Plus those games are targeted at a mature audience, so they are aware of what's right and wrong, and that it's just a game.

For the record, I agree with you. But I can definitely see the concern. A lot of kids I knew when I was younger played the early GTA games and were influenced by them. Not to say that they would go out and shoot people for fun or anything, but it definitely had an influence on them.

I definitely think there should not be a ban on any video games. Maybe they just need to be more strict about who they sell to.

Me & my friends play violent FPS & TPS games where we cut flesh, crush bones, kill people & maim them in hundreds, blast children & women into pieces as collateral damage - but we do not injure even animals, forget humans.

It is only a misconception that violent games make people violent - they only help in letting of steam sometimes, instead of letting it on people.

So, violent games may actually help in letting of steam on the game's characters rather than on people.

My advice - play some Quake, Daikatana, Half life etc & see for yourself.

Violent games do influence gamers at least mentally. This means that they don't go out running over people with their cars or kill cops with rocket launchers but they still have violent thinking, ideas etc which can lead to physical actions in tense situations. This is true especially for the immature teengaers. They are easily influenced by negative stuff. Some video games deserve to be banned.

It is not a game anymore, video games have become part and parcel of human lives today. You don't expect your child to sit like a monk, when you are busy playing it, do you ? Obviously it is an addiction and children learn bad things faster when they are growing up. Better to avoid these kind of violent games.

Without a doubt SOME are negatively influenced by games, but such people probably have problems to begin with. They might be easily influenced by other stuff too like movies etc.

Also, I did not say that it was ok for kids to play them, I just merely stated that it was alright for adults and therefore they should not be banned. What they should do is instead have an option in every game to tone down the violence, and have a special password to unlock the more graphic stuff. That way if a kid does get their hands on it, they can't see the gruesome material.

game is just a game it never had a influence on any one.
the violent games are meant for matures and not for the kids the manufacturer specify it it is up to the parents to watch out the kid and allow them to play only their level of games

Video games never parcels human life. It is parents duty to watch the kids and allow only kids level game to play.. "violence" they always mention 18+ not for kids. There is more violence in movie than in games

While it is possible for the game developers to allow gamers to change the level of violence of their games, it's not worth it. They won't spend their time on that.

It's easy to keep kids away from such games but not underage teenagers. Teengaers will get them and parents can't do anything.

In movies kids can only watch the violence. In games they can plan violence acts, and execute them in any way they like.

It's a waste of more time and money banning video games, the censorship in most country's is more about controlling what people do and watch, where in the west it's just about money the governments waste trying to ban something that any courts will overturn in the a weeks.

The world doesn't need to be kept to the standards of children. Adults are responsible for managing their children - the rest of the world isn't. Why should I be censored?
