There are statistics all over the internet, in papers, in books, all about how easy it would be, with mass interest, to solve the problems of world hunger. One statement I have heard often is that we could have fed everyone around the world several times over with the money spent in Iraq.

What sources like this fail to mention are the problems with distribution, continued agriculture, and sickness that effects crops and livestock. It's never as simple as just getting some food together and shipping it off, or we would have made much more of a difference by now.

So, my question is, what can we realistically do to start aiding in the feeding of third world countries? With so many areas with corrupt governments refuses to aid the people, how can we overcome? And how could be help these countries maintain established food sources?

I myself think it's a matter of an individual basis right now. Every bit help, from using services that donate food when you buy products, to buying a village a goat. How can we expand this method?

Fund raising programs are going on in every wealthy place around the world for these causes. People are aware of what is happening in third world countries, but then those people are also very lazy. You cannot always help a needy, he/she too will have to try standing on his/her feet which they don't want to. They are as they are for the past many decades/centuries without attempting to develop their country themselves. All we can do is raise funds & grains for these people. Most important of all is education, we have to educate these people only then our help would be, really a help.

But what about those countries whose government is unable or unwilling to distribute the donations given, like in Africa, where it becomes the responsibility of those giving to make sure it gets to the right place? This tends to make it much more difficult to make a difference. And in many of these cases, the people take care of themselves to the best of their ability with what they have, but have no influence over development because of those in charge not allowing it.

But when they are given things corrupt the government takes everything away from then also there is a good website if you want to help give some food to people http://www.freerice.com/ you answer the correct meaning to the word and they will donate 20 grains of rice :)

This is a good site. There is also another great one: http://www.thehungersite.com. It allows you to click on a link daily and it automatically donates food. They also have other tabs that allow you to do a donation by click to breast cancer awareness, animal shelters, the rain forest, children's health care, and literacy. It's worth a look.

The first step to solving this problem starts at home.

Basically, if you want to help "end world hunger" you have to first help out in your local community. Chances are, there's probably some really poor people in your area. I'd donate some canned food to the local centers that help out these people. And I often do give money to poor people who ask me for some in the street, but I just hope that they will use it for food and not for drugs.

2010 you are right as the quote says "Charity begins at home" if anyone caring about the world hunger they should start with their local charity home helping the poor and old age homes...but giving money to the beggars is not a good idea because they wont use it for food..

For something like that to happen, it would require that world hunger is seen as a real problem for the entire world. Right now i think there is too much focus on the environment and oil for all of these countries to really worry about world hunger.

Only the realization that we are one whole will do the trick.
Only then we will start treating all of mankind as we treat ourselves.

The problem is the governments of these 3rd world countries. They sit there in air-conditioning, eating their banquet meals while their people stave to death. Do they care? NO!
Those governments more often than not HAVE the resources to improve their economy, and stand there with their hands out for aid, crying poor-mouth, while the fat from their smoked leg ham dribbles down their chin.
It may sound cruel, but hey, put something in their water - a birth control method. It's a disgrace, they climb over dead bodies just to have their last root before they die themselves. Why would anyone bring a child into such a miserable existence anyway? Self preservation? Maybe they don't know any better.
The best way WE could help is to control their birth rates.
SAD BUT TRUE.

maybe a reformation is needed..?

a reformation, which after its acceptance, makes people happy to make kids as they wish to?
